Welcome to the very first post of the Akita Fluff blog. We hope to showcase many longcoat akitas here to show the wonderful variety we know as woolies in the akita breed. Many people who work in the animal rescue field (in shelters) are unfamiliar with the longcoat variety in akitas so we hope our photos will educate those who have never seen them in the flesh.

Meet Hattie. Hattie is a longcoat akita in New Mexico that is looking for a new home through akita rescue there. She is approximately 1o months old and gets along with a male akita in her foster home. She is considered a red/fawn with a black mask.


She is on the smaller side for an akita but has that beautiful wollie coat and sweet temperment we love.
